Introduction
Henna-hooded Foliage Gleaner is a spectacular and rarely seen resident of semihumid forest in the Tumbes region of northwest Peru and southwest Ecuador, and is among the most distinctive of foliage-gleaners. Adults show a bright golden orange head with a thin, pale bluish ring of skin around the eye, and a thick, pale bill. The upperparts are reddish brown, with a rich orange red tail, and the underparts are gray. This species forages low in the forest, probing into and throwing aside dead leaves. The loud call of Henna-hooded Foliage-gleaner is heard much more often than the bird is actually seen.
