Conservation Status

Lettered Aracari has a very large geographic range, and consequen IUCN Red List status for is evaluated as Least Concern.

Assessments of the relative abundance of Lettered Aracari vary from rare to uncommon in Peru (Schulenberg et al. 2010) to fairly common in Colombia and Ecuador (Hilty and Brown 1986, Ridgely and Greenfield 2001a).

Effects of human activity on populations

Lettered Aracari is reliant on forested habitats, and so, although it tolerates advanced second growth, it is vulnerable in the long term to Amazonian deforestation (BirdLife International 2014).
