Priorities for Future Research

Although Lettered Aracari is a large, relatively conspicuous, and very widespread species, surprisingly little is known about its life history or breeding biology. There is very little information on the foods it consumes, even on such basic topics as the relative contributions to the diet of fruit versus arthropods and small vertebrates. There also is no information on topics such as home range size and density or on such demographic topics as age at first breeding, life span and survivorship, dispersal, or population regulation.
