Lineated Woodpecker is not globally threatened. Common to fairly common in most of its range. It occurs in many protected areas including Santa Rosa National Park (Costa Rica), Guatapo National Park (Venezuela), Asa Wright Nature Centre (Trinidad) and Serra do Cipó National Park (Brazil).
In view of its wide distribution and high relative abundance, the conservation status of Lineated Woodpecker is rated as of Least Concern by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (BirdLife International 2010).
Effects of human activity on populations
Lineated Woodpecker tolerates open and degraded habitats, and in some parts of its range it may benefit from human activities such as deforestation.
