Priorities for Future Research
Introduction
Research on historical changes of the range and habitat of the Long-tailed Manakin would increase our ability to predict future trends in their distribution. Information is seriously lacking on female life history and biology, as well as nesting behavior, nestling biology, and male behavior in the non-breeding season. Little or no research has been done on the human impacts on their populations, possibly because they are classified as a species of 'Least Concern' by both BirdLife International and the IUCN Red List, but, as with all species, there is a high likelihood that they are being or will soon be affected by human activity.
