There is insufficient ecological and biological information about Talamanca Hummingbirds. This species long was regarded as only a subspecies of its northern relative, Rivoli's Hummingbird (Eugenes fulgens), and so has received relatively little attention from ornithologists. Perhaps of particular interest would be detailed comparisons of the vocalizations and courtship behaviors of Talamanca and Rivoli's hummingbirds. Also lacking are detailed information on the breeding of Talamanca Hummingbird, and an understanding of its elevational movements.
