Distribution

Distribution in the Americas

The Mangrove Hummingbird is found on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica from the outer Nicoya Peninsular south to the Golfo Dulce. It is possible that this species will be found in the Chiriquí region of north-west Panama but searches in the 1980s failed to find the species (Capper et el. 1998, Garrigues and Dean 2007, Ridgley and Gwynne 1989).

Distribution outside the Americas

Endemic to the Americas.

Habitat

This species is found primarily in mangrove forests with extensive stands of Tea Mangrove Pelliciera rhizophorae, and sometimes in neighboring second growth habitat.
