Conservation

Nariño Tapaculo has a relatively small geographic range, but its population is believed to be stable, and its IUCN Red List conservation status is assessed as Least Concern.

The relative abundance of Nariño Tapaculo in Ecuador is assessed as fairly common (Ridgely and Greenfield 2001a).

Effects of human activity on populations

In the short term, Nariño Tapaculo is little affected by human activity, although like all birds of forest habitats it is vulnerable to habitat loss or degradation.
