Introduction
Nightingale Wren is a small, short-tailed wren found from southern Mexico to central Costa Rica. The plumage is dark brown, the feathers narrowly tipped with black. Formerly known as Northern Nightingale-Wren, it is the northern component of a species pair that includes the Scaly-breasted Wren (Microcerculus marginatus), previously Southern Nightingale-Wren. Nightingale Wren is more often identified by its song than visually, as it walks along the forest floor, bobbing its posterior like a waterthrush (Parkesia).
