Thomas S. Schulenberg, Megan Crewe, and Guy M. Kirwan
Version: 1.0 — Published February 1, 2013

Behavior

Introduction

Little information. Oaxaca Sparrows forage on and near the ground (Howell and Webb 1995, Rising 2011).

Oaxaca Sparrow usually forages within vegetative cover, where it often is difficult to see, but sings a fairly conspicuous perch (Howell and Webb 1995; see also Habitat).

Territoriality

Sexual Behavior

Undescribed; Oaxaca Sparrow presumably is at least socially monogamous.

Social and interspecific behavior

Oaxaca Sparrow presumably is solitary or in pairs when breeding. In winter, may form flocks of at least 10 individuals, which associate loosely with other species of sparrows (Howell and Webb 1995).
