Sounds and Vocal Behavior
Vocalizations
The vocalizations of Ocellated Quail have not been described in detail, but are similar to those of Montezuma Quail (Cyrtonyx montezumae). The presumed song of the male is a single descending, buzzy whistle; a descending series of short notes presumably is given by the female (as is the case in Montezuma Quail). Both vocalizations can be heard in this recording by Chris Benesh:

There are few available audio recordings of vocalizations of Ocellated Quail; additional examples can be heard at Macaulay Library and at xeno-canto.
