Olive Finch Arremon castaneiceps

Olive Finch is well named for its principally olive green plumage; otherwise the crown and nape are chestnut, and the face and throat are dark gray, while the wings and tail are duskier than the rest. The South American representative of the subgenus Lysurus, Olive Finch occurs in the Andes of Colombia to Ecuador in the west, and from southern Colombia to Peru in the east. Everywhere, the species appears to be uncommon and local, although it is also unquestionably the case that Olive Finch is decidedly unobtrusive and probably easily overlooked. It inhabits humid montane forest, with a marked preference for dense tangles at forest edges and in ravines.
