Sounds and Vocal Behavior

Vocalizations

The vocalizations of Opal-crowned Tanager generally are high pitched. The most frequently heard vocalizations are described as a high pitched "zit call usually repeated 2-4 times quickly" (Hilty and Brown 1986) or as "very high pseet and quiet, rich tchip notes" (Lane, in Schulenberg et al. 2010). What may be the song of Opal-crowned Tanager is described as "a rising-falling chattered series of high, wiry squeaks: psi-psi-PSI-PSI-psi-psi" (Lane, in Schulenberg et al 2010).
