Priorities for Future Research

Introduction

Much remains to be learned about this widespread but sparse raptor. Studies of basic biology could still contribute much to subjects such as courtship and mating behavior, vocalizations and their meanings, and behavior at the nest since only a couple such studies have been conducted.

Telemetry in particular would be useful for understanding the extent of the home range as well as dispersal habits. Telemetry of juveniles would be particularly informative to give insight on dispersal distances.
