Priorities for Future Research

Introduction

Patagonian Tinamou is an uncommon and infrequently seen species and its life history is poorly known. There is very little information on the diet or reproductive biology of this species. Topics such as age at first breeding, life span and survivorship, dispersal population regulation, molts, territoriality and population density, and sexual behavior. Further research also is warranted in the higher plateau of Santa Cruz, in Argentina, to establish the degree of overlap with other species in the area. There is also confusion and contradictions in the egg shell and coloration, which needs further studies.
