Diet and Foraging

Diet

Plain Xenops is insectivorous. Documented prey items include insect eggs, termites (Isopoda), spiders, ants (including larvae) and other Hymenoptera, Dermaptera, katydids (Tettigoniidae), millipedes (Diplopoda), and Coleoptera (Xylopidae) (Schubart et al. 1965, Haverschmidt 1968, Wetmore 1972, Remsen 2003).
