Breeding

Introduction

Little information, summarized in Goodwin (1976): The reported nests were 4-6 m above the ground. Nests with eggs reported from Paraguay from early October through early December; Piratelli et al. (2000) reported breeding in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil in November. The clutch in Paraguay was reported as 2-4 eggs, (Chubb 1910), but clutches of up to 6-7 eggs in Brazil. The eggs are variable in color: buff, cream, greenish white or pale greenish. The eggs are profusely marked with spots, speckles or blotches of reddish brown, dark brown or olive brown.
