Behavior

Introduction

Puerto Rican Screech-Owl is nocturnal. The general behaviors probably is similar to that of other species North American screech-owls (Megascops), but has not been studied in detail.

Territoriality

The little information that is available indicates that Puerto Rican Screech-Owl have small home ranges; two marked individuals occupied areas of 2.3 and 4.5 ha (Gannon et al. 1993).

Sexual Behavior

Undescribed; presumably is at least socially monogamous.

Social and interspecific behavior

Puerto Rican Screech-Owl is solitary or in pairs.

Predation
