Behavior
Introduction
Puna Thistletail primarily forages in dense understorey (Remsen 2003) dominated by Chusquea bamboo and other small woody trees and shrubs. Like other members of the genus individuals or pairs typically forage in dense understorey vegetation, with the tail often cocked upright. Occasionally birds descend to the ground to forage on moss-covered substrates (e.g. dead wood).
Territoriality
No quantitative information available, but territorial conflicts between pairs have been observed (Lloyd unpublished data).
Sexual Behavior
Little information available but presumably is monogamous
Social and interspecific behavior
Usually encountered singly or in pairs (Remsen 2003, Schulenberg et al. 2007), the Puna Thistletail only rarely follows mixed species flocks.
Predation
No information.
