Behavior

Introduction

Rufous-bellied Nighthawk forages for insects in flight, flying rapidly and erratically above treetops or above small clearings. It is most active at dusk. During the day it roosts lengthwise on trees limbs.

Territoriality

There are no published data on territorial defense, maintenance, or fidelity, or of home range size, for Rufous-bellied Nighthawk.

Sexual Behavior

Little information; presumably is at least socially monogamous.

Social and interspecific behavior

Rufous-bellied Nighthawk usually is solitary or in pairs.
