Rufous-webbed Brilliant Heliodoxa branickii

Little is known about the basic biology of this small brilliant. Rufous-webbed Brilliant forages in the understory or along the edge of forests along the east slope of the Andes of Peru and northern Bolivia, especially on outlying ridges. The plumage of this brilliant is mostly green, although the underparts of females are variably speckled with white. Males also have a pink gorget. The tail is blue, with contrasting bright white undertail coverts. The inner remiges are rufous; this color often is concealed when the brilliant is at rest, but the rufous is conspicuous in flight. Otherwise almost nothing is known about the natural history of this attractive hummingbird.
