Demography and Populations

Introduction

The species appears to be either rare or sporadic at the few known localities where it is found. The population size is low and decreasing and is estimated to be between 50 and 250 individuals. The species appears to move locally according to season. Most records of the species are from Salamanca National Park or Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta Sanctuary (Birdlife 2008, Collar et al. 1992, Hilty and Brown 1986).
