Diet and Foraging

Diet

The Saphire-bellied Hummingbird feeds on nectar and insects. It prefers nectar of flowers from the buttressed Tea Mangrove Pelliciera rhizophorae, but can also be found feeding in adjacent non mangrove habitat. When not in the mangroves the species can be found at flowers of Erythrina fusca, which is in the arid scrub habitat adjacent to the mangrove forests (Birdlife 2008).
