Vocalizations
The song of Saffron-billed Sparrow is a high-pitched series of wiry, rapid notes, slower at the beginning, described as "tsit, tsee-tsi-tsi, tseép-seép-tseép" (Ridgely and Tudor, van Perlo 2009) or "sidsidlidsidlsidli" (Canevari and Acindar 1991).
The call is a short, high-pitched, insect-like "tseet" or "gep" (Narosky and Yzurieta 2011).
This species vocalizes on the ground or in low bushes or scrub (Canevari and Acindar 1991).
