Priorities for Future Research

Introduction

Many basic aspects of the life history and behavior of the Slaty-backed Nightingale-Thrush are poorly known. Basic demographic data are not available (e.g., life span, age at first breeding, survivorship, dispersal, etc.; see Beltrán and Kattan 2001). Its mating system is also unknown. A population study of color-banded individuals will be needed to address these deficiencies in our knowledge.
