Priorities for Future Research

Introduction

Even though Stotz et al. (1996) set the research priority for the Silver-throated Tanager as "Low," much more information is still needed about the life history of this species. There are many gaps within the categories of vocalizations, molts, territoriality, sexual behavior, responses to predators, and details on their populations and demography. Little is known about the age at first breeding, life span, and population regulation. Much of the information known is from first hand accounts from a few people in a small part of this tanager’s large habitat range. The Silver-throated Tanager is listed by the IUCN as "Least Concern," but there is no population size estimate or population trend estimate.
