Diet and Foraging

Diet

Little information available. Food items include seeds and insects (Rising et al. 2010). The stomachs of specimens of four adults all contained seeds, but the stomach of a juvenile, still being fed by adults, contained greed plant material as well as insects (Marshall 1957). Striped Sparrows feed principally on seeds throughout most of the year but becomes more insectivorous during the breeding season (Byers et al. 1995).
