Breeding

Introduction

Tacarcuna Chlorospingus probably breeds from February to August. A female was seen carrying nesting material in February at Cerro Tacarcuna, Darién Province (Wetmore et al. 1984), whereas a pair was also seen nest building in April on Cerro Jefe, eastern Panamá Province (Christian 2001). The nest was in a cavity created by a bromeliad clump growing on top of the main limb of a tree about 6.5 m above the ground (Christian 2001). An immature (USNM 486533) was collected in May at Cerro Malí. Adults with immatures have been recorded in August at the Serranía de Majé (Angher and Christian 2000), and in the Colombian slope of Cerro Tacarcuna (Renjifo et al. unpublished data).
