Priorities for Future Research

Introduction

Many aspects of the life history of Tawny-collared Nighjar merit further investigation. There is very little known about its diet and reproductive biology. There also are no quantitative data on population density or population trends for Tawny-collared Nightjar, or information on such topics as age at first breeding, life span and survivorship, dispersal, population regulation, molts, territoriality, and sexual behavior. Further investigation of the seasonality of its distribution also is warranted, especially at the northern and southern extremes of its geographic range.
