Conservation Status

Thicket Tinamou has a large geographic range, and the population is believed to be stable. The IUCN Red List conservation status of this species is Least Concern (BirdLife International 2014). Under Mexican law, however, Thicket Tinamou is considered as under special protection (SEMARNAT 2010).

Effects of human activity on populations

No threats to this species are identified by BirdLife International (2014), but it is subject to heavy hunting pressure in Mexico (Leopold 1959).
