SPECIES

Trinidad Motmot Momotus bahamensis

Thomas S. Schulenberg
Version: 1.0 — Published April 15, 2011

Conservation

The Trinidad Motmot does not have an IUCN Red List conservation rating, as it still is classified by BirdLife International as conspecific with other members of the "Blue-crowned Motmot" complex (BirdLife International 2011).

The relative abundance of the Trinidad Motmot is assessed as "fairly common," although it also is described as more common on Tobago than on Trinidad (ffrench 1991).

Effects of human activity on populations

Little information, but apparently is tolerant of habitat disturbance, as it readily colonizes habitats such as cacao plantations.
