Conservation
Conservation Status
The conservation status of the Tumbes Swallow is rated as Least Concern (Birdlife Intl 2012) while the Peruvian Government lists it as Near Threatened (Minag 2004). The population size has not been quantified, but the population trend is believed to be stable (BirdLife International 2012).
The range of the Tumbes Swallow was extended into extreme southeastern Ecuador by Robbins et al. (1997) but the only thorough study of the species is from Bosque de Pomac, suggesting the number of individuals of this species may be lower than previously thought (Stager et al. 2012).
Effects of human activity on populations
Habitat degradation of seasonally dry tropical forests due to human activity (farming, grazing, settlement) may have adverse effects on populations of Tumbes Swallow.
