Diet and Foraging
Diet
Main food taken:
Tufted Tit-Tyrant is insectivorous, although its diet is not known in any detail (Engilis and Kelt 2009). The contents of one stomach included insect larvae and mature insects, including small black beetles (Humphrey et al. 1970).
Microhabitat for foraging:
Tufted Tit-Tyrant forages in shrubs, flying from the top of one shrub to the bottom of another, and then foraging upwards toward the crown (Engilis and Kelt 2009). At one site in Chile, it displays a moderate preference for three shrubs: Adesmia spp., Baccharis spp., and Porlieria spp. (Engilis and Kelt 2009).
