Demography and Populations

Introduction

Vermilion Tanager is generally considered uncommon in Ecuador and Peru, but is reliable from Churuyaco (600 m and above) on the Nariño-Putumayo boundary (Hilty and Brown 1986). Its status in Colombia is uncertain (Isler and Isler 1987, Hilty 2011). Parker et al. (1996) categorize the Vermilion Tanager as uncommon relative to other Neotropical birds with a center of abundance in the Upper Tropical Zone. No information is available on age at first breeding, life span, survivorship, parasitism, or population regulation.
