Diet and Foraging

Diet

The diet of Wedge-tailed Sabrewing is not known in any detail. It forages for nectar at flowering plants, but the plant species visted by the sabrewing have not been documented (Züchner 1999). The sabrewing presumably also consumes insects regularly, as do many species of hummingbird, and as has been documented for several other species of Campylopterus (Remsen et al. 1986).
