Introduction

In morphology, White-browed Conebill most closely recalls the entirely allopatric Rufous-browed Conebill (Conirostrum rufum) of the northern Andes and outlying ranges. The underparts of White-browed Conebill are almost wholly rufous and the upperparts, including the crown, are mainly dark bluish gray, but the throat is paler and there is a long, whitish supercilium. White-browed Conebill is usually fairly common and is distributed from northern Peru south to west central Bolivia, and is mainly found at 2600 to 4100 m. In terms of its habitat, this species is found in montane and elfin forests, where it favors areas close to the treeline, including patches of Polylepis woodland. It sometimes associates with both Cinereous Conebill (Conirostrum cinereum) and Blue-backed Conebill (Conirostrum sitticolor).
