Diet and Foraging

Diet

White-tailed Hummingbird primarily feeds on nectar, but there is very little information available on the flowering plants that it visits; reportedly it feeds on flowers of Inga, Kohleria, Lobelia, Malvaviscus, Manettia, Psittacanthus and Hamelia patens (Züchner 1999). White-tailed Hummingbird presumably also consumes small arthropods, as do most if not all species of hummingbird (Remsen et al. 1986).
