Sounds and Vocal Behavior

Vocalizations

The most frequent vocalization song is described as a repeated, rising, buzzy "zweeed" (Turner and Rose 1989) or "dzree" (Lane, in Schulenberg et al. 2007). Turner and Rose (1989) also mention  a "short harsh alarm" call. Hilty (2003) describes what may be the song of the White-winged Swallow: a sustained series of "metallic, scraping jee-reek notes," given at a rate of about 1 note/s as the bird flies back and forth low over water in the predawn darkness.

Nonvocal Sounds

None reported.
