Introduction
Yellow-bellied Tanager is widely distributed and is not rare across its range. Nonetheless, most aspects of its natural history are very poorly known. There is almost no information regarding its reproductive biology, and the diet is incompletely known. There also is no information on such topics as age at first breeding, life span and survivorship, dispersal, population regulation, territoriality and population density, sexual behavior, and responses to predators.
The taxonomic status of the tepui isolate phelpsi also merits further investigation, as this population may merit status as a full species.
