Meleagris Ϯ Ocellated Turkey M. ocellata) Gr. αγριος agrios  wild  < αγρος agros  field, country; χαρις kharis  grace  < χαιρω khairō  to rejoice; "Agriocharis ocellata (Temm.)  OCELLATED TURKEY. - This magnificent bird was apparently common  ... The flesh of the birds is, however, so highly prized by the Indians, who doubtless have always hunted it, that it has become one of the wariest birds I have ever collected.  ...  I would suggest, therefore, that it be placed in a new genus, for which I propose the name Agriocharis.2    ...    2 αγριος, wild.  χαρις, grace."
