Aguimpia

(Motacillidaesyn. Motacilla Ϯ African Pied Wagtail M. aguimp) Specific name Motacilla aguimp Dumont, 1821; "The typical Motacilla does not occur within our limits, but it is represented by the resident species, which differ in the wing formula, the penultimate and anti-penultimate primaries being about equal, the outermost and the fourth being slightly shorter.  Of these M. vidua Sundevall is most closely related to M. alba in colour characters, but has the base of the primaries white and is considerably larger, so that it may be separated in a subgenus, for which I propose the name of AGUIMPIA subg. nov., type M. aguimp Dumont (cf. Mathews, Austral Av. Rec. III. 14, 1915), also known by the names of M. vaillanti Cabanis and M. nigricotis Shelley." (Roberts 1922); "Aguimpia A. Roberts, 1922, Annals Transvaal Mus., VIII (4), p. 255.  Type, by original designation, Motacilla aguimp Dumont, 1821." (JAJ 2020).
Var. Aguimpa.
