ANOMALOPTERYX

‡ (Anomalopterygidae; Ϯ Little Bush Moa A. didiformis) Gr. ανωμαλος anōmalos  strange  < negative prefix αν- an- ; ομαλος omalos  even; πτερυξ pterux, πτερυγος pterugos  wing; "Genera et Species typicae.   ...   c. x Anomalopteryx R.  didiformis (Dinornis —  Ow. Zool. Transact. III. p. 326.)" (Reichenbach 1853); "Anomalopteryx Reichenbach, 1853, Avium Systema Naturale, p. XXX.  Type, by original designation, Dinornis didiformis Owen, 1844." (JAJ 2020).  The flightless Little Bush Moa became extinct at the end of the 14th century.
