Calobatus

(Recurvirostridaesyn. Himantopus Ϯ Black-winged Stilt H. himantopus) Gr. καλοβατης kalobatēs  tightrope-walker (but, as here, frequently treated as 'stilt-walker')  < καλως kalōs  rope; βατης batēs  walker  < βατεω bateō  to tread  < βαινω bainō  to walk; "CCCXe Genre. ÉCHASSE, himantopus, Briss.; macrotarsus, Lacép.; charadrius, L.; calobatus.  ...
