Cristemberiza

(Emberizidae; syn. Emberiza Yellow-throated Bunting E. elegans) L. crista  crest; genus Emberiza Linnaeus, 1758, bunting; "Cristemberiza, gen. nov.   Differs from Emberiza in having a longer crest.  Type: Emberiza e. elegans = Emberiza elegans TEMMINCK, 1835." (Momiyama 1928) (Laurent Raty in litt.); "Cristemberiza Momiyama, 1928, Annotationes Ornithologiae Orientalis, 1 (3), p. 319.  Type, by original designation, Emberiza elegans Temminck, 1835." I, pp. xxix, xxxiii), Emberiza citrinella Linnaeus, 1758.” (JAJ 2023 per Laurent Raty in litt.).  Linnaeus's Emberiza comprised fourteen species (E. nivalis, E. Calandra, E. Hortulana, E. Citrinella, E. Orix, E. Quelea, E. militaris, E. atrata, E. familiaris, E. flaveola, E. psittacea, E. paradisæa, E. Ciris, E. Alario).

PAMPAEMBERIZA

(‡ Passerellidae; Ϯ Necochea Sparrow P. olrogi) Spanish pampa  the grassland plains or pampas of Argentina; genus Emberiza Linnaeus, 1758, bunting. Known only from fossil material collected in southern Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, this species was considered related to Zonotrichia (OD per Fred Ruhe).
