(Phoenicopteridaesyn. Phoenicopterus Ϯ Gergovie Flamingo P. croizeti) "GERVAISIA gen. nov.  ETYMOLOGY. The genus is named after Paul Gervais who first described the species. It is feminine in gender.  TYPE SPECIES.  Phoenicopterus croiseti Gervais 1852: 233-234; pl. 2, figs. 4-5." (Harrison & Walker 1976).
