- HYLIOTA
(Hyliotidae; Ϯ Yellow-bellied Hyliota H. flavigaster) Gr. ὑλειωτης huleiōtēs forester, an epithet of Pan < ὑλη hulē woodland, forest; “HYLIOTA. ... I cannot, with any certainty, cite a published species as typical of this genus. Yet, from the construction of the wing, I have no doubt that it belongs either to Africa or India.” (Swainson, 1827, Zool. Journal, III, Art. XV, p. 170); "Hyliota, Sw. (fig. 229.h) Bill lengthened, very slightly widened at the base, and much compressed beyond the nostrils. Rictus nearly smooth. Wings, tail, and feet as in Muscicapa; but the middle toe is shorter, and the claws are broader, thicker, and much more curved. Africa: representing Platystera. H. flavigaster. West. Af. ii."
