Maluropsis

Amytornis Ϯ Grey Grasswren A. barbatus) Genus Malurus Vieillot, 1816, fairy-wren; Gr. οψις opsis  appearance; "Within Amytornis, however, A. barbatus does stand apart from the other species genetically, as predicted by Schodde (1982a), from its morphological traits  ...  Amytornis subgenus Maluropsis, subgen. nov.   Type species: Amytornis barbatus Favaloro & McEvey, 1968.  ...  The name Maluropsis reflects the Malurus-like traits of this species in morphology and behaviour" (Schodde & Christidis 1987); "Maluropsis Schodde and Christidis, 1987, Emu, 87, p. 189.  Type, by original designation, Amytornis barbatus Favaloro and McEvey, 1968."
