Discosura  Wire-crested Thorntail D. popelairii) Jean Baptiste Louis Joseph Baron Popelaire de Terloo (1810-1870) Belgian explorer, naturalist (cf. specific name Trochilus popelairii Dubus de Ghisignies,1846); "*b. Orn., 1, 1854, Beil. zu Extrah., p. 12.  Type, by monotypy and virtual tautonymy, Popelairia tricholopha Reichenbach = Trochilus popelairii DuBus.    ...    Gouldia Bonaparte, 1850, the earliest name for this genus, is preoccupied by Gouldia Adams, 1847 [Mollusca]." (Peters, 1945, V, p. 34).  For those who consider Popelairia Reichenbach, 1854, to be a replacement name, note that the type species of Gouldia Bonaparte, 1850, is Trochilus langsdorffi Temminck, 1821.
