Rhinocorax

(Corvidae; syn. Corvus Fan-tailed Raven C. rhipidurus) Gr. ῥις rhis, ῥινος rhinos  nostrils; κοραξ korax, κορακος korakos  raven  < κρωζω krōzō  to croak (cf. ῥινοκοραξ rhinokorax  the name given to an unknown bird, perhaps a hornbill, seen by Alexander’s Macedonian infantry near a river in India); "[KEY] d''. Nasal bristles erect and directed forwards and upwards . . .7. RHINOCORAX.  ...  Rhinocorax affinis.  ...  nasal bristles black, and becoming gradually erect towards the forehead, directed forwards anteriorly, so as to hide the nostrils completely" (Sharpe 1877); "Rhinocorax Sharpe, Cat.
