Rupisitta

(Sittidae; syn. Sitta Eastern Rock Nuthatch S. tephronota dresseri) L. rupes, rupis  rock  < rumpere  to shatter; genus Sitta Linnaeus, 1758, nuthatch; "SITTA, Rupisitta subgen. nov.  ...  these birds, differing from the S. europaea group by a generally duller and paler colouring, greyish instead of whitish centres of lower tail-coverts and the absence of dark chestnut colouring on the flanks, can be separated as a subgeneric group "Rupisitta"" (Buturlin 1907) (Laurent Raty in litt.); "Rupisitta Buturlin, 1907, Izvestiya Kavkazskago Muzeya, III (1), pp. 49, 64.  Type, by original designation, Sitta dresseri Zarudny and Buturlin, 1906."
